Elizabeth Raymond Brown, PhD., PGCE, PG Dip. Clin. Ed.
Elizabeth has been designing and delivering laser/light safety courses and qualifications for over twenty-seven years for colleges, universities and the private and public healthcare sectors. In 1999 as Head of Lasers at Loughborough College she developed the first internationally recognised customised qualifications (BTECs) in medical and aesthetic laser/ILS therapies and laser safety management. As an experienced educator and Laser Protection Adviser (LPA), Elizabeth provides reliable, independent information and guidance on laser and light therapies, applications and safety management.
Elizabeth was a key member of the Expert Working Groups that developed the first National Occupational Standards (NOS) in laser and light therapies for HABIA and was commission to author the HABIA booklet ‘Safe Use of Laser/IPL Equipment’. She continues to contribute to the revision and updating across the suite of NOS for aesthetic practice.
Elizabeth has written customised and regulated qualifications in laser and light-based therapies, laser safety management, non-surgical cosmetic interventions and trichological science and practice. She is a committee member of the Training & Education Committee of the the Joint Council of Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP) and a significant contributor to the JCCP and Cosmetic Practice Standards Authority (CPSA) education and competency frameworks.
In 2017, Elizabeth was awarded the Schuco International Award for Outstanding Achievement in Medical Aesthetics at the Aesthetics Awards Event, December 2017. Elizabeth has published a number of journal papers and articles and continues to be regular speaker at conferences, events and workshops.
Elizabeth is passionate about training and education and the design and implementation of assessment strategies. A significant part of her current work is the creation and hosting of engaging and rewarding teaching and learning materials using state of the art virtual learning platforms. As an independent external verifier, Elizabeth continues her involvement in teaching and education across a the aesthetic practice and laser/light sectors.
